Cognitive Demands and Electrical Stimulation in Memory Function Research
This trial tests how the hippocampus helps form memories by influencing how we look at things. It'll measure and manipulate activity in the hippocampus, and use direct electrical stimulation to test its role in helping us remember.
Barrier Method
HydroGlyde Condom for Condom Users
Latex condoms have long been available as contraceptive devices as well as an effective means of preventing the spread of sexually transmitted infections. However, lack of adequate lubrication leads to inconsistent and incorrect condom use. The latex HydroGlyde condom has a hydrophilic coating which maintains its lubricity when in contact with water. Improved lubrication during intercourse may lead to improved user satisfaction and increased condom use which would help prevent the spread of Sexually Transmitted Infections and unwanted pregnancies. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the preference, performance (breakage, slippage), safety (adverse events) and acceptability of a HydroGlyde prototype condom compared to a commercial latex condom with silicone lubricant. A secondary objective of this study is to compare and evaluate various lubricant activation methods for reliability, usability, and user preference.
Procedure
Sleep Disturbance + Study Drug for Sleep Disorders
This trial tests how different types of sleep problems affect the brain's response to a pain-relief drug and its potential for abuse. Healthy subjects will have their sleep patterns manipulated and then undergo brain scans and pain tests. The goal is to see if poor sleep makes pain drugs less effective or more likely to be abused.

FAPi & PSMA PET/CT Imaging for Cancer Detection
This trial is using a new imaging technique, FAPi PET/CT, to study how well it can detect cancer in patients with non-prostate cancer. The team is also interested in using another new imaging technique, PSMA PET/CT. Patients will have PET/CT scans with either the FAPI or PSMA tracer. This trial is to see if these new techniques are effective in detecting cancer.
Depression Subjects: Influenza Vaccine for Depression
The purpose of this study is to determine differences between the immune responses in healthy and depressed people. Participants will receive the influenza vaccine and their responses will be monitored. This study will recruit 15 healthy and 60 depressed participants.
Behavioral Intervention
Employment for Reducing Violence and Crime
Chicago's Department of Family and Support Services will be providing summer employment and social-emotional skill training to youth over the summer of 2012. The investigators are partnering with them to evaluate the effects of the program. The investigators will track applicants to the program through existing administrative databases to assess the short- and long-term effects of the government's program. The investigators hypothesize that the program will decrease violence involvement and criminal activity, increase schooling engagement, and increase future employment outcomes.
Prosthetics
Experimental Prosthetic Foot (K3 Promoter) for Amputation
The investigators are currently verifying early data showing that the K3 Promoter prosthetic foot affects walking efficiency or stability in transtibial, unilateral amputees when compared to their current prostheses. Phase II funds are being used to address these metrics. These studies are important basic research, however, while Tensegrity has the unique opportunity to study amputee gait and movement in the CGMA's state-of-the-art facility the investigators will expand these studies with BRDG-SPAN funding by studying the following metrics: 1. Four Square Step Test (FSST) 2. Amputee Mobility Predictor (AMP) 3. Timed Up and Go Test (TUG) 4. Quality of life (QOL) index (SF-36) 5. Activity-specific Balance Confidence Questionnaire (ABC) 6. 3D motion analysis
