Summary
This trial is testing a treatment for depression using electric shocks to the brain while patients are asleep with either ketamine or methohexital. The goal is to see how slow brain waves change during the treatment and if these changes can show how well the treatment is working. Ketamine has long been used as an alternative anesthetic for ECT and appears to initially enhance the benefits of ECT.
