Summary

This trial is investigating whether four different state-of-the-art breast imaging techniques are better than each other at diagnosing breast cancer, and whether they work better together than alone.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for women recently diagnosed with breast cancer who will have surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. It's not for pregnant women, those treated with preoperative therapy for advanced cancer, anyone with MRI contraindications, or a past diagnosis in the same breast within 5 years.
What is being tested?
The study compares four imaging techniques—MRI, digital mammography (DMAM), ultrasound, and PET scans—to see how well they work together to determine the extent of breast cancer before surgery.
What are the potential side effects?
Potential side effects may include discomfort during procedures, exposure to radiation from DMAM and PET scans which carries a small risk of harmful effects, and possible allergic reactions to contrast materials used in MRI and PET.
