Summary

This trial is testing a new program to help people at risk for dementia. The goal is to see if it is effective and can be used on a larger scale.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for people aged 65 or older with risk factors for dementia, such as family history of Alzheimer's, certain genetic markers, cognitive decline, poorly managed hypertension or diabetes, physical inactivity, and social isolation. Participants must speak English fluently, have internet access and be able to attend weekly classes at a YMCA.
What is being tested?
The Brain Health Program being tested aims to reduce the risk of dementia through a multimodal curriculum. It covers known risk factors and promotes evidence-based lifestyle changes over a series of 12 weekly classes.
What are the potential side effects?
Since this program focuses on education and lifestyle modification rather than medication or invasive procedures, significant side effects are not expected. However, participants may experience stress or anxiety when changing habits.
