Summary

This trial found that an innovative pre-session enhancement to the National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) called Pre-NDPP was successful in doubling attendance and weight loss outcomes as compared to previous NDPP participants who did not receive a pre-session.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for Denver Health patients who have had prediabetes, gestational diabetes, or are at risk based on a screening tool. Participants must have a BMI of 25 or more (23 if Asian), and be able to communicate in English or Spanish. Those with diagnosed diabetes or pregnant women cannot join.
What is being tested?
The study tests an enhancement to the National Diabetes Prevention Program called Pre-NDPP, which aims to improve attendance and weight loss outcomes among diverse low-income populations at risk for type 2 diabetes.
What are the potential side effects?
Since this intervention involves educational sessions rather than medication, typical drug side effects are not expected. However, participants may experience lifestyle changes due to diet and exercise adjustments.
