Summary
"This trial aims to find out which body position or movements create the most pressure in a specific part of the esophagus, which can help strengthen the diaphragm."
Who is the study for?
This trial is for patients who are already scheduled to undergo high-resolution esophageal manometry, a test that measures muscle contractions in the esophagus. It's aimed at those with conditions like acid reflux or difficulty swallowing.
What is being tested?
The study is testing how diaphragmatic breathing affects pressure at the EGJ (the valve between the esophagus and stomach). Researchers want to find out which positions or maneuvers increase this pressure most effectively.
What are the potential side effects?
Since the intervention involves only diaphragmatic breathing exercises, no significant side effects are expected. However, discomfort from the manometry procedure itself may occur.
