Eligibility Criteria Checklist

Not taking steroid-based medications; not planning to or currently attempting to gain or lose weight
Be older than 18 years old
Must not have
Inability or unwillingness to consume any food item in the test meals
More than a 10% change in body weight within the past 2 months

Summary
This trial aims to find out if eating beans helps our bodies use food better as energy. #beanpower
Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults with a BMI between 18.5 and 30 who can sign consent, are on birth control if applicable, have their own transport to the research center, don't smoke or use tobacco products including e-cigarettes, aren't taking steroids or trying to change their weight.
What is being tested?
The study examines how eating meals containing whole cooked pinto beans or pinto bean flour compares to a control meal without beans in terms of affecting metabolism and energy use in the body.
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves dietary interventions with common foods like beans, side effects may include digestive discomfort such as gas or bloating. Individual reactions can vary based on personal food sensitivities.
