Summary

This trial is testing if an emotion recognition intervention can improve social cognition in people at high risk for schizophrenia.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for young people aged 15-25 who have a sibling or parent with schizophrenia. Participants must speak English fluently and not have an IQ below 70, significant neurological disorders, recent substance abuse, or conditions that would make MRI scans unsafe.
What is being tested?
The study tests emotion recognition training against active control training to see if it can improve social cognition in youth at high risk of schizophrenia due to family history. The effectiveness will be measured through changes in their ability to recognize emotions and related brain activity.
What are the potential side effects?
Since the interventions involve non-invasive training programs, there are minimal expected side effects. However, participants may experience fatigue or stress during cognitive tasks or discomfort from sitting still during MRI scans.
