Summary
This trial will help researchers understand what causes change in adolescent substance abuse treatment, so that future treatments can be more effective.
Who is the study for?
This trial is for teens aged 12 to 17 with a substance use disorder. A parent or guardian must be available to participate. It's not specified who can't join, but typically those with health issues that could interfere might be excluded.
What is being tested?
The study compares two treatments for teen substance abuse: Standard Contingency Management (CM) and an enhanced version (CM+). The goal is to find out which elements are most effective in improving outcomes during and after treatment.
What are the potential side effects?
Since the interventions involve behavioral therapy techniques rather than medications, typical medical side effects aren't expected. However, participants may experience emotional or psychological discomfort.
