Summary
This trial looks at whether physical and occupational therapy consultation on admission to a bone marrow transplant can reduce complications, length of stay, readmissions, and mortality. Baseline data is used to determine eligibility.
Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults aged 18 or older who are admitted for a bone marrow transplant (BMT) and have not had an inpatient BMT before. It's designed to see if adding physical and occupational therapy right from the start can help reduce complications and improve recovery.
What is being tested?
The study tests whether early consultation with physical and occupational therapists can decrease problems, shorten hospital stays, lower chances of coming back to the hospital within 30 days, and reduce deaths within 90 days after a BMT.
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves non-drug interventions like physical and occupational therapy consultations, typical medication side effects aren't expected. However, there may be general risks associated with any new exercise or therapy regimen.
