Summary

This trial is testing whether a memory retraining program can help people with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). MCI is a common cognitive deficit that can negatively impact everyday life. The trial will test the effects of the memory retraining program on cognitive function and everyday life.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for individuals aged 60 or older who have been diagnosed with amnestic Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and are fluent in English. It's not suitable for those with a history of stroke, neurological injuries/diseases, significant alcohol/drug abuse requiring inpatient treatment, use of benzodiazepines/steroids, or major psychiatric conditions like bipolar disorder or schizophrenia.
What is being tested?
The study tests the effectiveness of memory retraining exercises compared to placebo control exercises on improving learning and memory in people with MCI. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two groups and assessed through neuropsychological tests, daily functioning questionnaires, and optional functional neuroimaging before and after treatment.
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves cognitive exercises rather than medication, traditional side effects are not expected. However, participants may experience fatigue or frustration during testing sessions.
