Other Research
Common treatments for male infertility, such as the use of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, work by targeting oxidative stress and providing essential nutrients necessary for sperm health. Oxidative stress, caused by an imbalance of free radicals and antioxidants in the body, can damage sperm DNA, reduce sperm motility, and impair overall sperm function.
Antioxidants like vitamin C, vitamin E, and selenium help neutralize free radicals, thereby protecting sperm from oxidative damage. Additionally, essential nutrients such as zinc and folic acid play crucial roles in spermatogenesis and DNA synthesis.
By improving the antioxidant capacity and nutrient availability, these treatments can enhance sperm quality, which is vital for male infertility patients seeking to improve their chances of conception.
