Summary

This trial will compare CPR skills and attitudes between teens taught with standard CPR training and those taught with a gamified experience.

Who is the study for?
This clinical trial is for 8th and 9th grade students enrolled in Health Class at participating schools. It's not for those who've had previous CPR training (though they can still learn CPR), or if the student or parent opts out, or if there's a physical injury preventing them from performing CPR.
What is being tested?
The study is testing whether an interactive game-based system improves CPR skills and attitudes towards providing it, especially addressing barriers faced by women and minorities. Students will be compared based on standard classroom training versus this novel gamified approach.
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves educational interventions rather than medical treatments, traditional side effects are not applicable. However, participants may experience fatigue or muscle soreness from practicing CPR.
